Dakar BRT: frequency boosted to every four minutes at Médina station from this Monday
Dakar's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has announced increased shuttle frequency at Médina station, with a service every four minutes at peak hours from this Monday, up from every six minutes before. The move aims to absorb the surge in passengers seen since the school year began.
Since entering service, the BRT has served a busy corridor between Petersen and Guédiawaye, and Médina station, close to several schools, sees heavy morning traffic. Network managers cite a roughly 15% rise in ridership since last week's school return.
This Monday morning, early passengers noted noticeably shorter waits on the platform, though some still mention crowded buses during the busiest hours, between 7am and 8am. Extra staff have been deployed at the station to direct passengers toward the least crowded doors.
What the creator verified this Monday: a shuttle roughly every four minutes between 7am and 8:30am at Médina station. What remains to be confirmed: whether this boosted frequency will hold beyond the school-return period or be scaled back afterward.
