The Abidjan transport company (SOTRA) has added four morning water-bus rotations between the Abobo-Doumé lagoon station, in Attécoubé, and the Plateau, with a departure every fifteen minutes between 6am and 8:30am since this Monday. Until now, passengers often waited more than half an hour at peak times.

The move responds to the rise in ridership since the school year began, with many workers from Attécoubé and Yopougon preferring the lagoon to the traffic jams on Boulevard de la Paix. The crossing takes about fifteen minutes, compared with sometimes more than an hour by road at the busiest times.

This Monday morning, the queue on the forecourt was noticeably shorter than last week, according to several regulars. Some passengers regret, however, that the extra rotations do not yet cover the evening return, when waits remain long after 5pm.

What the creator verified this Monday: departures roughly every fifteen minutes between 6am and 8:30am, and the new timetable posted at the station. What remains to be confirmed: whether SOTRA will extend these rotations to the evening return, as passengers are asking.
