Since Saturday, several inter-commune shared-taxi drivers at the Treichville station have been charging 350 CFA francs for a ride to Koumassi, up from 300 francs until now. Drivers cite the rising cost of spare parts and traffic jams that lengthen trips, while many passengers denounce an increase decided without consultation.

Treichville's town hall points out that inter-commune wôrô-wôrô fares are set by an agreement between transport unions and the authorities, and has announced a mediation meeting this week. Meanwhile, prices vary from one vehicle to another on the same route, causing tension at the moment of payment.

For workers who make the round trip every day, the increase amounts to about 3,000 francs more per month, a sum some traders at the station describe as heavy. Some passengers are switching to SOTRA buses, slower but cheaper.

What the creator verified this Monday: rides charged at 350 francs by most of the drivers questioned, with others still charging 300 francs. What remains to be confirmed: the outcome of the mediation meeting announced by the town hall.
