Six medals for five athletes: Ivorian university competitors return from Cairo and call for resources

Five Ivorian athletes, one woman and four men, returned from the 12th African University Games in Cairo with six bronze medals. Sports minister Adjé Silas Metch received them at his office on Monday to pass on the government's congratulations.
Aude Bogui brought back two of them on her own, in the 100 metres and the 200 metres. The four men each took bronze in the 4x100 metres relay. All are students at the national youth and sports institute in Marcory, and competed as part of the activities of the Ivorian school and university sports office.
Speaking in front of the minister, Aude Bogui argued for stronger resources for the office on three fronts: talent identification, preparation and athlete support. The minister mentioned upcoming events, including the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
The delegation was led by Roland N'gbofai. What remains to be confirmed: the additional resources actually allocated to the office for the 2026-2027 season.
