Taekwondo: the sports ministry cancels the federation's general meeting and orders it to be held again

The sports ministry has invalidated the ordinary general meeting of the Ivorian taekwondo federation held on 28 December 2025, and is asking for it to be held again, along with a revision of the statutes before any new election.

The decision appears in a letter dated 14 September signed by the chief of staff, Professor Yao N'Guessan Alfred, and addressed to the federation's president.

The ministry lists several irregularities: an informal information channel that left out statutory members, notice periods not respected, minutes of the previous meeting not circulated, an agenda that did not comply with the statutes, and an auditor not registered with the professional body.

Asked to step in, the international federation World Taekwondo referred the dispute back to national authorities in a letter dated 20 August. A group of 50 statutory members had also filed a formal objection in early September.

The ministry sets four requirements, including holding the meeting again under Olympic rules and removing age conditions that block certain candidacies. Implementation will be monitored by the ministry and the national Olympic committee.
